Job Summary

 

The Robotics department is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on a project related to authenticity markers in artist-robot interaction funded by DARPA. The postdoctoral fellow will be working with Professor Patricia Alves-Oliveira in the Robot Studio, her research lab at the University of Michigan. This project is closely related to the main theme of the lab, which concerns the topic of human-robot interaction. The successful candidate will have extensive experience and a passion for robotics, human-robot interaction, biometrics, controls, learning, abstract thinking, as well as an interest in the arts. Fellows will be given time and mentorship to begin developing their own research, as they prepare for transition to faculty or industry.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Applicants will be expected to independently produce results on their project
  • Publish high-quality engineering journals
  • Travel to national and international conferences

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Ph.D. in Robotics, or a related field
  • Mechatronics, including the development of refined physical prototypes that integrate sensing, actuation, and control
  • Proven experience with ROS
  • Implementation in real-time embedded systems
  • Programming in language such as Python, C/C++, and experience with Linux-based microcomputers
  • Machine learning theory and implementation in real-time Python
  • Human subject testing, and the development of IRB protocols
  • Proficient with learning from data
