Staff Specialist Healthcare: Supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for Ambulatory Care Services
Provides highly responsible, complex administrative support for health system senior leadership.
Coordinates the strategic planning, development, and implementation of new or changed administrative policy and procedures, programs, projects, and activities. Provides staff support to executive groups, including coordination of meetings, forums, agendas, and assistance in preparing and reviewing materials for discussion. Collaborates with the Senior Leaders of Nursing Services, Clinical Nursing Directors and Supervisors, and other University of Michigan Health (UMH) leadership and staff. Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare, and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operation to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status.
This individual will contribute to all aspects of the CNO work and leadership with a focus on responsibility for representing nursing on clinical operations issues within Ambulatory Care Services (ACS) and the University of Michigan Medical Group (UMMG) segment. This includes but is not limited to analyzing and aiding with communications, coordinating all aspects of strategic planning, helping to prioritize daily issues, coordinating and delegating agenda scheduling, and leading or aiding with selected improvement initiatives and projects as assigned. The individual must have the skill set and experience to enable them to work with wide discretion and independent judgment.
Organizational Relationships:
- Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer for ACS/UMMG.
- Collaborates with Senior Leaders of Nursing Services, Clinical Nursing Directors, and other UMH leadership and staff within the ACS/UMMG segment and across the clinical enterprise.
- Functional and administrative supervision is exercised over support staff, as assigned.
