Michigan Medicine Speech-Language Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at the new Ypsilanti Health Center!.

Job Description:

  • Evaluate children with speech, language, voice, and cognitive-communicative disorders.
  • Design and implement treatment programs to facilitate improved communication skills.
  • Counsel patients and their families regarding communication development, impairment and opportunities for stimulating improvement.
  • Treatment of children enrolled in the STEPS Autism Treatment program, including data management and development of programming materials, documentation of clinical findings, adhering to regulatory agency and insurance requirements
  • Provide documentation of evaluation data, test/re-test data and speech-language progress, in accordance with insurance and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintain departmental and institutional standards of clinical productivity.
  • Provide patients and families with recommendations and referrals to appropriate health care sources.
  • Provide assistance to medical and rehabilitation team members regarding methods for facilitating a patient's understanding and use of language to achieve maximum understanding of medical information and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Participate in staff meetings regarding individual patients with physicians, nurses, insurance representative and allied health professionals.

NOTE:  This position will be 40 hours and have a 4 ten hour days work schedule.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is necessary.
  • A Certificate of Clinical Competence, awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is required
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Michigan is necessary

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Previous experience evaluating and treating children with autism is desired
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
