Job Summary

The University of Michigan Injury Prevention Center (UMIPC) is seeking an experienced professional who is passionate about building collaborative teams and fostering a positive work environment. Under the direction of Center leadership, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive research administration support, including pre- and post-award grant activities, project implementation, regulatory compliance, and data management.
Located within the Department of Emergency Medicine, UMIPC is one of eleven Injury Control Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Center conducts, translates, and accelerates injury-prevention research into practice and policy to reduce the burden of injuries across the Great Lakes region and the United States. UMIPC conducts research, training, and outreach in collaboration with other University research units and external injury-prevention organizations, including state health departments.
This position will support multiple research projects and grants within UMIPC, working both independently and collaboratively throughout all stages of the research process. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for several studies and will coordinate research operations across a diverse project portfolio.
The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, staff, trainees, and research partners across U-M. This work will involve coordinating activities among multiple units, including UMIPC, the Concussion Center, the Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention, the Medical School, and the School of Public Health.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of academic research and research administration, including research ethics and IRB requirements, as well as an interest in advancing the field of injury prevention.
This is a temporary position with potential to become a full-time position.

Onboard and coordinate participating sites for multisite and multi-institutional studies.
Prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, amendments, continuing reviews, and related regulatory documentation through the U-M eResearch system.
Develop and maintain project-management and study-tracking systems, including tools for monitoring participant enrollment, study progress, deliverables, budgets, and deadlines.
Lead the preparation and submission of UMIPC's biannual progress reports to the CDC, collaborating with Center faculty, pilot project principal investigators, and core and project leaders to compile all required materials.
Prepare research reports, proposals, and other study documentation for internal and external audiences.
Support grant proposal development and submission, including scientific writing, literature searches, abstracts, budgets, letters of intent, letters of support, and human-subjects protection plans. Collaborate with the Emergency Medicine finance and research administration teams as appropriate.
Monitor grant expenditures in partnership with the appropriate financial teams to ensure that spending aligns with approved budgets, project activities, and required deliverables.
Establish and maintain timelines for project deliverables, progress reports, manuscripts, and future grant submissions.
Conduct data analyses, interpret findings, and communicate results to research teams and other stakeholders.
Contribute to the development and submission of peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and other research products.
