The University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN), Clinical Learning Center (CLC) seeks a full-time Laboratory Classroom Services Technician & Standardized Patient Support Specialist. This blended role divides time between two complementary areas: (1) laboratory and classroom services technician support for the smooth daily operation of the CLC, and (2) support to the Standardized Patient (SP) Program Manager in facilitating standardized patient events.
Reporting to the CLC Co-Directors, this position provides daily support to management and instructional faculty, stocking supplies, setting up and monitoring rooms, setting up and cleaning up simulations, labs, SP events, and greeting students. In addition, this position partners with the SP Program Manager to prepare for, run, and reset standardized patient events held both in person in the CLC and via telehealth (Zoom) format.
The CLC provides learning resources for nursing students. Graduate and undergraduate programs use standardized patient events that enable students to apply therapeutic communication, motivational interviewing, physical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment in a safe and supportive environment.
