Job Summary

 

The University of Michigan School of Kinesiology seeks a highly skilled, high-energy, and self-directed Program Manager to serve as the foundational operational catalyst and systems builder for Game Changers: The Michigan Center for Innovation in Women's Sports. Game Changers is being established as a national hub for the discovery, synthesis, implementation, and advancement of evidence-based solutions that improve the health, performance, economic opportunity, and holistic well-being of female athletes across the lifespan and athletic spectrum.

Reporting to the Professor of Movement Science, you will manage the Center's daily operations and serve as the primary operational contact. This is primarily an onsite position but a hybrid schedule with a remote option up to 2 days/week may be available.  

Note: This is a term-limited position, funded for 3 years; the initial appointment may be extended depending on the availability of funding and successful performance.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Translate leadership priorities into annual operating plans, project schedules, assignments, milestones, and deliverables. 
  • Develop and maintain administrative processes, standard operating procedures, project-management tools, calendars, databases, shared files, and recordkeeping systems. 
  • Provide project management support to track cost, schedule and deliverables of the Center's research, demonstration, and implementation projects. 
  • Coordinate administrative requirements with appropriate University offices, including human-subjects research, privacy, data-use agreements, contracts, and research administration.
  • Develop dashboards and evaluation measures demonstrating the Center's research, educational, operational, and societal impact.
  • Serve as an administrative contact for established collaborators and partners such as other U-M units, the Game Changers advisory board, sports organizations, corporations, foundations, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate partner and advisory-board meetings, including scheduling, materials, presentations, minutes, action items, and follow-up.
  • Work with School finance and research administration staff to monitor operating, grant, and project budgets. 
  • Prepare financial summaries, forecasts, and budget-to-actual reports for Center leadership. 
  • Work with the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, Marketing and Communications and Development Offices to implement the Center's communications and visibility plan.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and day-to-day work of student assistants, interns, temporary staff, and project contributors that work directly with the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Master's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 3+ years of progressive project management or program operations experience. Prior experience launching programs, building SOPs, or working in dynamic, early-stage units is highly valued.
  • Proficiency with modern project management tools, file-sharing architectures, and basic financial tracking tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Google Workspace, Canvas, or similar programs.
