This appointment is a full-time clinical position in the CWS Program. The position involves participation in an interdisciplinary outpatient team, with clinical responsibilities to provide direct billable clinical work in evaluating and treating patients with CWS and related diagnoses. The CWP Program will provide focused, time-limited consultations using a biopsychosocial approach to better understand and manage CWS. The program aims to improve patients' understanding of their condition and promote independence by helping them implement effective self-management strategies. Previous experience working with complex populations, running individual/group psychotherapy treatment and using outcome measures is desired.  Participation in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines is expected.  

Applicants should have advanced evidence-based psychotherapy training that may include: CBT, ACT, DBT, PRT, and/or EAET consistent with supervised clinical experience using such modality for 6 or more months.  Further training may be provided on an as needed basis. 

Applicants with full licensure and evidence-based trainings will be considered the most qualified.  Although this position is primarily clinical, those with appropriate knowledge base and experience will have opportunities for active participation in training and supervision of students and staff from a range of mental health disciplines.  Some skills and training in research are a plus, though not a requirement.

You will be responsible for:

• Screening CWS Program referrals for appropriateness based on inclusion criteria. 
• Coordination for the evaluation of patients in collaboration with physician partners and specialty groups across Michigan Medicine Widespread Symptoms Network. 
• Providing direct billable clinical work including biopsychosocial and symptoms intake evaluations and individual/group psychotherapy to adults with CWS and mental health diagnoses. 
• Providing evidence-based psychotherapy treatment including individual, family and group modalities. 
• Participation in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines. 

• A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
• A current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan (LMSW or LLMSW).
• Applicants should have advanced evidence-based psychotherapy training comprising supervised clinical experience using specific modality for 6 or more months.  

• Applicants should have the knowledge base and experience to participate in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines.  
• Efficient, accurate psychiatric assessment skills and effective case presentation skills.
• Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position. 
• Effective collaboration with a large multi-disciplinary team.
• Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely clinical records by computer.

This is full time, 40 hour/week position. This position may require some evening hours.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.  Advancement through the career ladder at the Expert or Clinical Scholar Level is required for placement in the MSW Senior Classification

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
