The Inclusive History Project (IHP)-Dearborn Program is looking for a driven individual to contribute to our research into the diverse histories of the university community. This is an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to make a meaningful impact and develop their research skills.

Position Overview: We are seeking enthusiastic candidates to join the IHP-Dearborn team. In this role, you'll work closely with a Co-Director of Research and the Program Coordinator for Digital Humanities to research the historical relationship between the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the city of Dearborn. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong passion for humanities research, oral history, and the exploration of inclusive history.

At the Research Assistant I level, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing library and archival research, particularly using local newspapers; participate in group observation activities; collect, analyze, code, and tabulate data; and more.

For the Research Assistant I level, successful applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Enrolled in a Bachelors program 
• Completed multiple upper division courses in Humanities and/or Social Sciences
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team
• Solid working knowledge of library databases such as Proquest

For the Research Assistant I level, the following criteria is desirable:

• Demonstrated experience on the UM-Dearborn campus working with culturally diverse public audiences and projects in which community engagement is a key aspect of the work
• Ability to read cursive handwriting
• Experience conducting in-person archival research
• Experience conducting interviews
• Past participation in research projects at the college or above
• Willingness to travel to local, off-campus libraries and archives within a 45 min driving radius of campus
