The Division of Rheumatology is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Research Lab Technician Senior to support translational research focused on cancer immunology and the development of novel immunotherapies for prostate cancer. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative research environment and contribute to molecular, cellular, and animal studies examining immune-cell migration, activation, and anti-tumor activity.

• Maintain and culture primary human immune cells and established cancer cell lines. 

• Perform cell-based assays to evaluate immune-cell migration, activation, and tumor-cell killing. 

• Prepare samples and perform ELISA and other plate-based assays. 

• Conduct multicolor flow cytometry and assist with data analysis. 

• Perform RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, quantitative real-time PCR, and western blotting. 

• Assist with CRISPR-based gene-editing experiments and validation of gene knockout or knockdown cell lines.

• Assist with rodent handling and in vivo prostate cancer studies, including treatment administration, tumor monitoring, and tissue collection. 

• Process cells and tissues for flow cytometry, histology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. 

• Acquire and analyze microscopy images using fluorescence microscopy. 

• Maintain accurate laboratory records and assist with data collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation. 

• Collaborate with laboratory members and institutional core facilities on research projects.

• Contribute to laboratory organization, reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and general laboratory operations.

• Bachelors degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Immunology, or a related scientific field, and 1-2 years experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, including relevant undergraduate and graduate student work experience.  

• Hands-on laboratory experience with mammalian cell culture and standard molecular or cellular biology techniques. 

• Experience with one or more of the following: rodent handling, flow cytometry, ELISA, histology, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, qRT-PCR, or western blotting. 

• Proficiency with standard data-analysis and office software, such as GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, and Microsoft Office. 

• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to maintain accurate records, follow established protocols, and manage multiple experimental tasks. 

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research team. 

• Willingness to work with human-derived specimens, cultured cancer cells, and laboratory animals in accordance with applicable safety and research protocols.

This is a 1 year term-limited appointment. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits.
