The Frankel CVC Leadership team is seeking a highly experienced strategic analyst to inform and guide successful execution of multiple concurrent projects of varying scope and complexity under general supervision, including identifying new strategic opportunities.  You will be responsible for collaborative growth and development of key initiatives to identify areas of internal and external opportunity to improve workplace culture and well-being.  Projects will require originality, ingenuity, assessment of unusual circumstances, and variation in approaches used depending on the situation. 

As an integral member of the Frankel CVC leadership team, you will engage in operational development of key projects, team-based problem solving, and contributing to the forward progress of our strategic goals. This position will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and work closely with strategic priority area leaders to lead, facilitate and manage in the above areas that will serve the Frankel CVC community.

Partners with the Frankel CVC Leadership team and institutional partners to implement the goals and strategies of the office to include:

Strategic Planning & Operational Development (55%)

• Provide operational support for development and implementation of key strategic initiatives with other team members and internal and external partners. 
• Provide leadership, consultation, and development of organizationally aligned strategies from inception to execution.
• Responsible for the autonomous management, performance, and completion of multiple, multi-phase, concurrent projects, and provides a single point of contact for those projects.
• Analyze, compare, and evaluate various courses of action, develop action plans, implement as appropriate, and make independent decisions free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of strategic priority areas to enable independent handling of appropriate matters.
• Provide status reports, and exchange relevant information with stakeholders, management and project teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership in support of future strategic outcomes.
• Assemble project team, identify resources and project roles needed, and develop implementation plans and timelines for projects. Assemble strategic framework for projects.
• Collaborate with project and process owners and provide project scoping direction and set up. Ensures a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the project plan, to align the stakeholders and team members.
• Effectively communicate stakeholder requirements to team members and communicate project progress to all stakeholders, including our outcomes and activities materials.
• In close partnership with our communications team members, contribute to written communications and presentations for a variety of audiences including senior leadership and internal and external boards. Effectively coordinate and facilitate communication planning and deliverables for projects and initiatives. 
• Measure project performance and tasks using appropriate tools and techniques to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions and communicate with all stakeholders.
• Identify and assess issues, risks, and interdependencies, and escalate appropriately.  Proactively anticipate and resolve problems and create conditions and processes to support change. 
• Build mutual trust and encourage respect and cooperation among team members.
• Supervise 3-4 Frankel CVC Team members including the administrative fellows and other administrative partners.
• Serve as a senior advisor and resource for leadership regarding strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
• Partner with faculty leadership to evaluate and enhance programming, recruitment efforts, mentorship opportunities, and professional development activities.
• Develop strategies that support trainee engagement, leadership development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and workforce planning
• Other duties as assigned.

Culture, Community Engagement, & Leadership Development (30%)

• Lead initiatives that foster a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive organizational culture.
• Develop strategies that support employee engagement, recognition, leadership development, retention, and workforce well-being.
• Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to strengthen organizational effectiveness and employee experience.
• Design and implement programs that promote collaboration, professional growth, and community across faculty, staff, and trainees.
• Monitor engagement metrics and recommend strategies to enhance organizational culture.
• Lead development of community engagement strategies that support the Frankel CVC mission and strategic priorities.
• Cultivate partnerships with community organizations, healthcare stakeholders, advocacy groups, donors, and academic collaborators.
• Identify opportunities to expand the Center's visibility, impact, and engagement within local, regional, and national communities.
• Provide strategic oversight of outreach activities, educational programs, and community-based initiatives.
• Collaborate with communications, development, and institutional teams to advance outreach objectives and partnership opportunities.

Administrative Fellowship Program (15%)

• Oversight of the Frankel CVC Administrative Fellowship Program, including:
  • Recruitment cycle for selecting the next administrative fellow.
  • Onboarding and offboarding process for fellows.
  • General operations of the program, ensuring fellows receive high-quality opportunities in projects, field experiences, and engagement across academic medical center (AMC) administration.
  • Developing and updating the program curriculum, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Track and evaluate program outcomes to inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the trainee experience and align programming with organizational priorities.

• Demonstrated understanding of balancing system-level thinking, strategic priorities and operational execution of key initiatives.

• Demonstrated skill in building collaborative and inclusive relationships, with a high level of emotional intelligence; ability to influence a diverse set of individuals in a matrix environment.

• Strong and effective communicator in both written and verbal forms, including demonstrated ability to present to audiences at all levels of the organization.

• Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting data, including proficiency in survey tools.

• Flexibility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, prioritize, shift priorities as needed, and work collaboratively with others.

• Lead project deliverables through completion with minimal supervision or guidance.

• Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups, displaying tact and courtesy, maintaining confidentiality, setting priorities, being attentive to detail, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, and working as part of a team.

• Must be self-motivated and demonstrate proactive problem-solving abilities and prioritize work duties.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in the complex environment of a large health system and/or academic medical center.

• Ability and initiative to work independently and recommend solutions to complex issues.

• Adapts oneself in a complex environment, adjusting as required and always engaging in self-reflection, continual learning, and growth.

• Detail-oriented while keeping a broader understanding of the bigger picture.

• Skilled proficiency using MS Office products e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Strategic Planner Lead Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) in health-related or business administration field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 5-8 years professional experience in health care administration including in building relationships, leading projects through completion with minimal supervision, and familiarity with survey and data tools. 

Strategic Planner Intermediate Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) in health-related or business administration field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2-5 years professional experience in health care administration including in building relationships, leading projects through completion with minimal supervision, and familiarity with survey and data tools. 

• Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., MBA, MPH). 

• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent.

• Organizational change management and/or strategic planning experience.

• Knowledge of University of Michigan organizational structures, policies, and procedures.

• Understanding of sponsored project/research administration.

• Substantial experience with academic medical center setting.
