The applicant will conduct research on the functional neuroanatomy of psychiatric and addictive disorders, including studies in rodents and human postmortem brains. This will include the use of multiplexed gene expression studies at the single cell level and coupling of that information with behavioral and neural outcomes in the rodents and clinical conditions in the human postmortem work. It will require the development and/or refinement of new technologies for neuroimaging and quantification, along with the use of analytical strategies for handling large volumes of anatomical, functional and gene expression data. The successful candidate will draft and prepare high-quality research proposals and progress reports, will play a lead role (PI, co-PI, or co-I) on grant proposals leading to extramural funding. The successful candidate will also serve as a major preparer and drafter for research manuscripts, supervising research staff, overseeing overall lab operations, and managing specific research projects in support of overall laboratory goals. They will be instrumentally involved in the training of research lab students and staff in both technical and conceptual aspects. They will also play a central role in managing collaborative projects and grant proposals.
