Job Summary

 

Health Information Technology and Services at University of Michigan Health is looking for a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Pharmacy Informatics to join our Pharmacy Informatics & Technology team. This position will primarily support Epic Willow Ambulatory. You will report to the Manager of Outpatient Pharmacy Applications and be a part of an exciting expansion of pharmacy services for our patients. We have a diverse team of analysts and clinical pharmacists who support technology solutions for the pharmacy at our institution.

The areas of Outpatient and Specialty Pharmacy are rapidly growing, and our team is playing a significant role in installing, supporting, and optimizing pharmacy systems to support patient care activities. The analyst will partner closely with pharmacists, providers, operational leaders, and technology teams to support medication-use workflows, medication safety initiatives, regulatory requirements, and optimization of pharmacy technology solutions across ambulatory and specialty pharmacy environments.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Plan, implement and maintain Outpatient and Specialty Pharmacy operational and clinical applications to meet department needs
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application, workflow, and data issues impacting medication-use systems and pharmacy operations
  • Perform application testing, validation, and change control activities to ensure clinical accuracy, patient safety, and system integrity
  • Participate in multidisciplinary workgroups and committees to ensure electronic health records are compliant with current practices, guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Support medication safety and quality initiatives with a focus on supporting ambulatory and specialty pharmacy workflows including e-prescribing, refill management, medication access, and prior authorization processes
  • Work with third party vendors to integrate key data into Epic Willow build
  • Manage projects (upgrades, new implementations) as needed

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Licensure in good standing, or immediate eligibility for licensure, as a registered pharmacist in the state of Michigan. 
  • Doctor of pharmacy degree or Master and/or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy with one-year residency or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of pharmacy workflows, medication safety principles and EMR systems
  • Exposure to IT project management principles

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Completion of PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency
  • Experience implementing IT healthcare solutions
  • Experience supporting Epic Willow Ambulatory, Compass Rose and Clarity or similar specialty pharmacy integrated platforms
  • Familiarity with URAC, ACHC, and health-system specialty pharmacy accreditation requirements
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare information regulations and requirements
