The UMSN invites applications for a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty position beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year. We seek accomplished board-certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners, clinical educators, and clinical scholars who demonstrate excellence in advanced practice nursing, teaching, mentorship, scholarship, and service. We welcome both emerging and established clinical leaders whose expertise contributes to the preparation of future advanced practice nurses and the advancements of evidence-based healthcare. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to innovative teaching, interprofessional collaboration, and clinical excellence. Applicants should have experience teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs and be actively engaged in clinical practice. Preference will be given to Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners with expertise in emergency or trauma care, surgical units, neurology, oncology, women's health, or family health.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to student mentorship, innovative clinical education, and the integration of teaching, practice scholarship and service. Interest in global health practice is desirable. Courses are delivered in person, and this is an on-site position.

The search will conducted during the 2026-2027 academic year, with application reviews beginning in September 2026. Applicants will be considered for the ranks listed above depending on applicant experience and scholarship productivity.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctorate in Nursing
• A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
• A specialty certification in the State of Michigan is required for this position. You must hold an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
• Demonstrated excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills.
• Current clinical experience in a practice relevant role.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in the development and implementation of innovative curricular activities.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to develop and sustain high-quality educational programs.
• Evidence of increasing service to the profession and academic community.
• Evidence of clinically relevant scholarship that advances advanced practice nursing and healthcare outcomes. Scholarship may include peer-reviewed publications. Evidence-based practice initiatives, quality improvement projects, program evaluation, guideline development, dissemination activities, and grant-related work.
• Prior to the start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies, and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).

• Demonstrated excellence and sustained impact in clinical and/or didactic teaching.
• Evidence of leadership in advanced practice education, curriculum development, clinical program innovation, or professional organizations.
• Sustained record of clinically relevant scholarship with regional or national recognition.
• Significant service contributions to the profession, academic community, healthcare organizations, or clinical practice initiatives.
