The Division of Hospital Medicine is one of thirteen divisions within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School and is a nationally recognized academic hospital medicine program. The division includes more than 120 instructional, clinical, and research track faculty who oversee more than 50% of the Department's inpatient clinical activity, including the 40-bed Medical Short Stay Units, Medicine Procedure Service, affiliate clinical programs, and a growing portfolio of sponsored research. Division faculty care for more than 16,000 inpatient and observation patients annually while advancing nationally recognized programs in health services research, patient safety, antimicrobial stewardship, medical decision-making, and medical education. Many faculty also serve in leadership roles across Michigan Medicine, the Medical School, and the VA Health System.
The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Division Administrator to serve as the primary strategic and operational partner to the Division Chief. Together, they provide leadership for a dynamic academic division dedicated to excellence in clinical care, research, education, and faculty affairs. This individual is expected to anticipate challenges, develop innovative solutions, build high-performing teams, and translate strategic priorities into operational execution. Working collaboratively with faculty leaders, departmental leadership, and institutional partners, the Division Administrator fosters a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
