The Supervisor of Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity is responsible for the daily supervision, workflow coordination, performance support, and competency development of assigned Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist staff, including Pediatric CDIS team members. This role provides frontline oversight, coaching, mentoring, education, and operational support to ensure accurate, compliant, and high-quality clinical documentation practices.
The Supervisor develops, coordinates, and maintains the CDI training and preceptor program for new hires and supports ongoing staff competency through quality reviews, skills assessments, audit feedback, and individualized development plans. In collaboration with the CDI Manager, this position helps implement departmental priorities, supports performance management processes, and promotes consistent application of CDI policies, query standards, regulatory guidance, and Michigan Medicine expectations.
This position collaborates with CDI leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, coding, quality, case management, revenue cycle, and administrative teams to support documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and accurate representation of patient complexity and care.
