Job Summary

 

Procurement Services is searching for a Financial Senior Manager to join our team.  We currently have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional to manage the finances and administrative services for Procurement Services. We are seeking a positive and effective leader who has a strong desire to succeed in a team-oriented and customer-focused environment. Successful candidates will have prior experience managing teams and working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage competing priorities.

This position is primarily remote but occasionally requires on-site work and must be able to commute to Ann Arbor when needed.

Procurement Services manages a diverse selection of goods and services, offering the university community key business services including procurement, travel, expense reconciliation, space analysis, property control, property disposition, and printing, copying, and mailing services.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Responsible for financial, HR, and administrative support services
  • Manage annual budgets and forecasts for multiple departments, including internal auxiliary services
  • Calculate and analyze auxiliary services recharges on an annual basis
  • Prepare and distribute financial reporting, such as monthly budget to actual financial reports, variance analysis, and other ad-hoc reports and provide actionable insights to Procurement management and leadership
  • Act as the Department Manager for all Procurement Services departments; includes the approval of vouchers, journal entries, requisitions, and remote work agreements
  • Ensure compliance with policies and complete the annual Internal Controls sub-certification
  • Oversee financial activity for UM payment programs
  • Participate in special projects to improve reporting, analysis, and internal processes to achieve productivity improvements and customer service delivery
  • Facilitate exceptional customer service delivery to departmental and leadership contacts
  • Directly manage a team of 2-4 financial analysts and administrative support staff. Provide leadership, instruction, and mentoring

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting or financial management
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills
  • Experience managing financial data within large enterprise financial and administrative systems
  • Experience with Excel and Google Sheets performing complex functions and maintaining complex spreadsheets
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to effectively lead others

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Master's degree in business administration, accounting, finance
  • CPA, CPM, or other related professional license
  • Experience in higher education
  • Familiarity and experience with university systems such as MPathways, Business Objects, BPC/Oracle, OARS, MReports, approved generative AI tools and applications., etc.
