Job Summary

 

The University of Michigan Football Program is currently seeking applicants for a Football Performance Dietitian.  The Performance Nutrition program at Michigan provides an evidence-based and sport-specific approach to fueling student-athletes for optimal health and performance. Under the direction of the Director of Football Nutrition, the Director of Strength and Conditioning, and the Head Football Coach, this position will work closely with coaches, strength and conditioning, athletic training, team physicians, and performance psychology as part of a comprehensive performance team to ensure the health and welfare of all Michigan student-athletes.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Set department strategy, mission, and annual priorities for football performance nutrition
  • Manage and forecast the football performance nutrition and supplement budget
  • Lead hydration and sweat testing protocols
  • Assist the Director with body composition and anthropometric measurements
  • Assist the Director in advancing higher-level sport science initiatives connecting nutrition, hydration, body frame measurements, body composition, and performance data
  • Represent the department in Athletic Department administration and NCAA/Big Ten compliance matters
  • Lead new department initiatives and innovation
  • Oversee Training Table operations, including coordination with performance chefs on menu design
  • Coordinate advance travel nutrition logistics, including hotel menu planning, away-game meal coordination, and fueling operations
  • Review athlete lab work and implement nutrition strategies addressing identified nutrient deficiencies
  • Support nutrition protocols for injury management and return-to-play, including soft tissue, bone, and concussion recovery

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA Division I Rules and Regulations as well as Big Ten bylaws.
  • Master's Degree.
  • RD/RDN with active status through Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • 1-2 Years Sports Nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week; including weekends and holidays.  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all members of the Performance Nutrition staff and other athletic department personnel.  
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.  
  • CPR/AED Certified.
