Who We Are

 

The Facilities Operations team is responsible for the planning, construction, and ongoing maintenance and operations of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's physical property, its buildings and infrastructure, grounds, and utilities.  We watch over the energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental health of the campus and help assure the occupational health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff.  We provide general services for the campus community, including mail and deliveries, shuttle and parking services, and fleet maintenance. 

The student selected for this position will provide support and back up for the Front Desk and Inventory Control Clerk for Facilities Operations. 

This position requires a 10 hour per week commitment, with flexibility during final exams. 

Shift/Hours/Days: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  (front desk coverage is most needed from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

This position requires in-person work.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Front Desk Coverage - answer phones, greet visitors, issue and collect keys
  • Answer questions in person, on the phone, and by email
  • Utilize a work order system to input requests for facilities operations services 
  •  Assist with inventory, supply deliveries, stock organization, and ordering 
  • Other office and stockroom responsibilities as needed

  • Current UM-Dearborn student.
  • Strong technology skills
  • Consistently professional regarding communication, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Reliable transportation to campus
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Dedicated work ethic with the initiative to lead a project and see it through to completion.
  • Collaborative spirit - experience working successfully in a team environment.
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service to all visitors, callers, and colleagues

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Work-study Preferred (FAFSA Award)  
  • Ability to learn AiM software for work order and inventory management.
  • Experience working in facilities operations and/or supply chain management (inventory) 
  • Experience with aggregating and analyzing data using Excel and Google Sheets.
