The College of Education, Health, and Human Services (CEHHS) is seeking applications for a Lecturer I position in the Department of Health and Human Services for the Fall 2026 semester.  The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching the class, HHS 225-003, Stress Management (section 3).

HHS 225-003 is an in-person course for our dual enrollment program with Detroit Public Community School District.  The class time is scheduled for Mondays from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm and Wednesdays from 1:40 pm - 2:40 pm.

The Fall 2026 schedule runs from Wednesday, August 26 to December 16, 2026.

This course is a systematic examination of the stress process and its management. We will explore what stress is, its major components and psychophysiological processes, as well as the connection between stress and health outcomes. Students will employ self?reflective and active learning techniques to examine in detail the range of options that may be employed to minimize the impact of stressors and their health consequences. These options include perception interventions and spirituality, multiple relaxation techniques, and physiological interventions such as exercise. 

The selected candidate MUST meet the above posted schedule and will be responsible for conducting all instructional duties of this course including teaching, development of assignments, grading, holding virtual office hours for student support, and maintaining a course page through the Canvas Learning Management System. 

Availability requirement: 

Because the Fall 2026 schedule is published and students have already registered, the selected candidate's availability must align with the existing class schedule.

This course is scheduled as in-person on Mondays 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm and Wednesdays 1:40 pm - 2:40 pm

The position requires that the candidate have a Master's degree in Social Work or a closely related field (e.g., counseling Psychology, etc. Previous experience with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience at the undergraduate level required (serving as a graduate teaching assistant is acceptable). 

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting all instructional duties of this course including teaching, development of assignments, grading, holding virtual office hours for student support, and maintaining a course page through the Canvas Learning Management System.
