Job Summary

 

The Michigan Medicine Financial Systems team provides the leadership, oversight, and technical support for the suite of financial products, applications and datasets used by the Finance Organization of Michigan Medicine for financial reporting, planning, analytics, and decision making. The team is responsible for delivering on-time enterprise-level reporting and business intelligence systems, managing concurrent high-visibility projects to support new initiatives, guiding data stewardship, and informing and supporting institutional enterprise objectives.
The Vizient team focuses on administration, submissions, and data integrity for the Vizient Benchmarking management reporting, planning, analytics and decision-making of the Michigan Medicine Finance Organization.


The Financial Systems Vizient Manager is responsible for overseeing the data submissions and ensuring the integrity of the Vizient Benchmarking application. This role works closely with Financial Systems leadership to align benchmarking data with high-visibility financial and business intelligence applications in a fast-paced, multi-division environment. The manager leads the Vizient team in quarterly data submissions, monthly benchmark trend reporting, and change management efforts, in addition to supporting ad hoc reporting and development initiatives. This role also supports the senior finance leadership to enable effective use of peer benchmarking analytics and to operationalize the governance model required to sustain these capabilities.


In performing the role, you will work closely with key stakeholders to understand operational, analytics, and reporting requirements and translate those into technical solutions to support the benchmarking submissions. Ideal candidates are adaptable and willing to tackle a variety of tasks to improve the operational efficiency of our technology stack, benchmarking capabilities and datasets, functioning with a high degree of independence and minimal day-to-day supervision to complete submissions and deliver projects in a timely and effective manner.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Management of application administration and data submissions for Vizient ODB and technical programming of support Systems 40%
  • Provide management and oversight for the team responsible for primary administration of Vizient ODB and secondary support all enterprise-level production systems and datasets for the following Michigan Medicine Financial Systems cloud hosted applications:
    **Finance BI (Oracle Cloud Analytics application used for decision support across Michigan Medicine Finance)
    **Multiple Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Applications
    **Data models with our relational Data Warehouse
  • Management and oversight of data collections, validations, and data integration for above listed systems. This includes the oversight of documentation, training and compliance with Vizient standards and internal controls.
  • Management and oversight of timely and accurate reporting to support local performance, benchmarking and analytics management as well as dissemination of Vizient standard reporting.
  • Management and oversight of full application life-cycle management for above listed systems. Including but not limited to, change management, backup and archive processes, disaster recovery, software upgrades and ETL processes.
  • Manage key stakeholder communications.
  • Oversight of security administration, end-user training, and documentation
  • Responsible for the administration of reporting landscapes that are complex and varied in nature.
  • Possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of Financial Systems data sets.
  • Oversee relationships with vendor teams, as well as internal teams to resolve technical issues and understand systems dependencies and compatibility
  • Manage risks, issues, and limitations.
  • Support the Application Owner and Data Stewards in managing customer expectations for production applications.
  • Work proactively to assess risks or changes affecting the systems and determine appropriate action plans to manage changes.
  • Act as vendor liaison for applications as necessary. Work with vendors, legal and procurement on contract negotiation and administration, as necessary.
     

Documentation, Validation, Governance and End User Support ? 30%

  • End user help-desk, training and communication management and oversight
  • Management and oversight of comprehensive data integrity procedures and documentation of validations
  • Oversee continuous review of month-end, quarter-end and year-end validation processes ensuring completeness, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Provide leadership for maintaining inventory of system documentation and instructions, utilizing searchable dynamic solutions
  • Management of creation and maintenance of Data Governance documentation including but not limited to:
    **Data Dictionaries
    **Data/Process flow diagrams
    **Data Model Fact Matrices


Leadership and Team Building 30%
 

  • Responsible for budgeting and cost management of the department including but not limited to resource planning, contracts, and expense management.
  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team.
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.

Required Qualifications*

 

Required

  • Experience as a Vizient Coordinator responsible for data submissions and validation
  • Experience working with Financial and Clinical Healthcare data
  • Experience in at least one of the following or similar systems: Vizient ODB or similar healthcare performance improvement and benchmarking systems, Oracle Cloud EPM, Essbase and OBIEE/OAC, EPIC or larger EMR systems, and Oracle PeopleSoft or large ERPs


Intermediate Level
 

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, accounting information systems or information management


Senior Level
 

  • MBA or similar graduate-level degree in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance, accounting information systems, or information management
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
