The Engaged Learning Office (ELO) team is looking for a detail-oriented, data-savvy Program Analyst. This role is the backbone of our program operations data, ensuring that the lifecycle of ELO programs - from student enrollment to final assessment - is captured accurately and translated into actionable insights.

• Data Management & Integrity
  • Lifecycle Oversight: Manage and maintain comprehensive records for students, external contacts, and projects across ELO programs.
  • System Synchronization: Champion program data integrity, ensuring seamless consistency of program rosters between Google Spreadsheets, Salesforce, and other internal databases and systems.
  • Process Documentation: Contribute to and maintain documentation for data entry protocols to ensure long-term continuity and accuracy.
• Assessment & Analysis
  • Assessment Delivery: Coordinate the distribution of ELO evaluations and assessments to students and clients, encouraging high response rates and ensuring technical accuracy. 
  • Data Synthesis: Collect, clean, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from diverse program sources.
  • Reporting: Develop dashboards and reports that track program performance, student outcomes, and partner engagement.
• Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Staff Consultation: Partner with Program Managers and ELO staff to audit current tracking methods and implement more efficient data collection workflows.
  • Insight Presentation: Translate complex data sets into clear, visual presentations and reports for UMSI leadership to inform strategic program and course direction.
  • Information Distribution: Act as the central hub for data sharing, prepare data and reports for review by School leadership, faculty, program managers, and program partners, with the specific metrics they need to evaluate project success.

• Level: Doctoral degree or current UM doctoral student preferred
• Duration: Ability to work with the ELO for a minimum of two years, longer ideal (if U-M student)
• Experience: 2 - 4 years of experience in data analysis, program coordination, or a related field (Higher Ed experience is a plus).
• Data Quality Assurance & Systems Optimization: Demonstrated ability to audit, clean, and maintain complex datasets with high accuracy; experience identifying inefficiencies and refining workflows that integrate human processes with technological systems.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced Google Sheets/Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, data cleaning).
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Google Forms).
• Root-Cause Data Analysis: Ability to conduct deep-dive investigations into program trends, moving beyond descriptive reporting to isolate variables and identify the underlying drivers ("the why") behind data anomalies or patterns.
• Communication: Strong ability to present data findings to non-technical audiences, including faculty and executive leadership.

We are seeking a U-M doctoral student for this role due to the need for complex data analysis and the long-term nature of the role. This position is also open to qualified community members seeking long-term, part-time, flexible work.

This is a year-round position with flexible and fluctuating hours. This position requires a one-hour meeting every other week, in person or via Zoom. Hours beyond that would fluctuate between 0 and 15 per week. Hours would be greatest at the start of each term (up to 15 per week), with some mandatory minimal hours (5-10 per week) in the last few weeks of each term. This position reports to the ELO Director and will work collaboratively with ELO program managers to ensure accurate data collection and produce useful data findings.
