Drawing on industry expertise, the Associate Director (or MBA Career Coach) will engage MBA students by creating a set of integrated experiences designed to prepare students for a successful job search. The Associate Director will engage with the relevant communities and members, including student clubs, alumni, faculty and corporate partners to cultivate student interest and preparedness in the assigned area. You will consult with Ross International MBA and PTMBA students looking for opportunities among all areas in addition to those MBAs focused on the following areas: Operations, and Tauber Institute students.

Each year, a large percentage of international students comprise the MBA population, which requires the MBA Coach to advise and work closely with international students from a variety of countries to help with job candidate preparation for roles within the United States (and curate resources for job pursuits abroad). Reporting to the Director of MBA Career Coaching & Education, this position contributes to the team's educational strategy and direction, and collaborates with other MBA Associate Directors to develop content and programming.

This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with an expectation of a minimum of three days per week on-site. The role may require occasional domestic travel, on-call responsibilities, and work outside standard business hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends. This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. • Program Design and Delivery (25%)
  • Conceptualize and deliver student programs and workshops to both domestic and international students. 
  • Use industry knowledge, market trends, and professional relationships to inform programming and support student success. 
  • Partner with student career clubs to create and provide high impact high-quality career programming, attend important club events/ conferences and align career messaging across club/ non-club audiences. 
  • Collaborate with Program Offices to ensure programming is consistent with student and program office needs and expectations. 
• Individual and Group Coaching (30%) 
  • Provide individual and group career coaching services to all MBA students, with an emphasis on international students 
  • Provide individualized career coaching, including interpretation of 
    self-assessments, development of job search materials and strategies, career transition, and guidance on interviewing and negotiation techniques. 
  • Use personal network to provide one-on-one connections between students and employers/ alumni. 
  • Customize the general career search process to help students to achieve clarity on their career targets faster. 
  • Track student progress. 
• Content Creation and Student Communication (20%) 
  • Support assigned student populations through regular communication, resources, and guidance related to career development and recruiting activities. 
  • Maintain expertise in international student employment considerations and labor market trends to provide relevant resources and guidance to students. 
  • Develop, implement and improve CDO print, video, presentation, email, web publications and structure, and social media communications for the assigned population. 
• Industry/Company Knowledge, Content Knowledge, and Relationship Management (10%) 
  • Maintain knowledge of immigration regulations and employment considerations affecting international students. 
  • Maintain knowledge of recruiting practices, industry trends, and student needs to provide career advising and programming 
  • Develop relationships with alumni and employer partners to support student career development and recruiting plans. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support employer engagement, recruiting initiatives, and student career outcomes. 
  • Participate in applicable company recruitment strategy meetings. 
• Supervise Student Peer Coaches (5%) 
  • Train and manage designated student Peer Coaches (MBA2s) in accomplishing career coaching responsibilities. 
  • Oversee and develop peer coaches to support student success plans.
  • Collaborate with peer coaches to identify opportunities to enhance the student career community experience, career education, and student success initiatives.
• Professional Development and Student Projects (5%) 
  • Engage with all partners to inform program development and share best practices.
  • Contribute to the programming content and CDO strategy and direction.
  • Remain reasonably conversant with all functions of CDO, including those beyond career coaching (recruitment and outreach, employment data, general 
    administration). 
  • Assume periodic special projects or committee memberships, as assigned.

• A Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and 5+ years overall work experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
• Significant work experience with international students, employees, or candidates, demonstrating an advanced, in-depth knowledge of federal immigration regulations, and interpreting and providing guidance as to their relevance for international students or employees.
• Familiarity with career coaching methods and processes and the ambiguity associated with the career decision process.

The salary offer range for this position is $75,300 to $97,300. Salary offers are determined based on several factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, along with internal equity considerations. It is not common for new hires to be placed at the top of the range.
