Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) manages U-M's enrollment function to efficiently optimize students' experiences throughout their engagement, from prospect to alumni. The division collaborates with campus partners, faculty, and staff in support of the university's mission.

 

OEM comprises a dedicated team of more than 200 full-time staff members and more than 400 additional student and temporary staff, and is structured in five operational units - the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of New Student Programs, the Office of the Registrar, and OEM Administration. OEM strives to provide excellence in access and support to inspiring learners who will challenge the present and enrich the future.

Job Summary

 

 

The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) is seeking a temporary Administrative Assistant to provide onsite administrative support across a fast-paced, high-volume division. 

This role supports leaders and divisional operations through a combination of routine administrative responsibilities, special projects, and cross-functional support, with assignments prioritized based on business needs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and skilled at managing multiple priorities while documenting and improving administrative processes. 

This temporary position requires 24?40 onsite hours per week, with a negotiable schedule and a pay range of $25.00?$27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Provide support within units including management of complex calendars and appointment scheduling. Partner to schedule meetings on behalf of leadership; support meeting preparation, logistics, and follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare, review, and reconcile travel and expense reports.
  • Assist with special projects, documentation and development of departmental processes and procedures.
  • Draft and support communications?including emails, presentations, and sensitive correspondence.
  • Manage office supply inventory, place orders, and initiate resolution of facilities or maintenance needs; may serve as the facilities assistant.
  • Collaborate with OEM HR on search processes by scheduling interviews, preparing candidate materials, and greeting candidates.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding including workspace preparation, building access coordination, and general assistance for new hires.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for staff engagement activities, meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Three years of administrative experience with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills with the ability to represent the OEM to a broad range of constituents.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in handling complex, confidential matters.
  • Proven experience working with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Google applications.
  • Working knowledge of Zoom or other video conferencing tools.

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's Degree. 
  • Familiarity with higher education broadly, and with respect to enrollment activities and programs.
  • Considerable knowledge of a large, decentralized university with various policies, protocols and regulations.  
  • Successful experience in data gathering and data analysis.
