The University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts seeks a part-time program assistant with an interest in instructional design and instructional technology. This is a one year, term-limited position at 20 hours per week.
The Junior Instructional Consultant supports the LSA Learning and Teaching Consultants, a unit of LSA Technology Services, performing assistant-level instructional support tasks. This position assists in our outreach campaigns and seminar events, especially with editing email and webpage content, researching article sources, and communicating with faculty participants in our events. In addition, and once fully trained, the Junior will work directly with faculty to answer basic questions about assignment design and troubleshoot common educational technology issues for LSA faculty.
Good organizational skills and written communication skills are vital to this position, and experience in teaching or training is a bonus, but no prior experience in instructional technology or instructional design is necessary. The LTC staff will provide all necessary training to the Junior Consultant and will work closely with them on projects. The Junior Consultant will have the opportunity to pursue professional development and certification in this area, if desired. We welcome experience from a wide range of work histories, including teaching, communications, training, patron support, or library experience, as long as you are willing to learn about the field of instructional design.
Please Note: This position is hybrid, with both on-site and remote work. The amount of on-site work is flexible, but at least one day per week on-site will be required.
