Job Summary

 

The NICHE Robotics Lab at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a CECS graduate student to support a project focused on human intent inference during physical human-robot interaction. Students are paid bi-weekly at an hourly rate determined by the faculty project sponsor. The anticipated start date will begin in the fall semester. 

Responsibilities*

 

The student will develop methods that integrate motion-capture data, force/torque sensing, and task-level cues to estimate human intent in collaborative robotic tasks. Responsibilities include sensor integration, data collection, signal processing, and algorithm development. Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the direct supervisor.

This position offers opportunities to contribute to publications and advanced robotics research.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Current UM-Dearborn M.S. student in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with robotics systems and programming (Python/C++)
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2
  • Interest in human-robot interaction, sensing, and machine learning

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Experience with Vicon motion capture systems
  • Experience with force/torque sensors and multimodal sensor fusion
  • Prior research experience in robotics manipulation
