Job Summary

 

The Department of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a temporary research assistant to support the outcomes-focused research activities led by Dr. Barbara Hamilton. Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide accurate, organized data input, editing, and report generation for research databases and projects.
  • Schedule, assist with preparation, and attend study appointments and meetings.
  • Query internal and external databases.
  • Upload data and content into web-based platforms.
  • Create charts and graphs from data content as needed.
  • Perform other administrative and research duties as needed.


In this role, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop an understanding of administrative and research processes/procedures in an academic medical center.
  • Gain exposure to various software programs, including EMR system (EPIC).
  • Interact with experienced study investigators, coordinators, and office administrative personnel.
  • Learn medical and research terminology, gain communication skills experience, and work in a professional medical setting.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • High school diploma or GED is necessary
  • Prior clinical research experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and sustain a high level of organization
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with others

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Electronic data entry
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with MiChart, Excel, and REDCap

Work Locations

 

The selected candidate will work onsite at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center in Ann Arbor.
