Job Summary

 

The University of Michigan is seeking a qualified Research Assistant to assist the team at the International Center for Automotive Medicine (ICAM). ICAM is a collaborative of researchers with surgical, medical, radiological, technological, engineering, and data expertise who are working together to prevent injuries to motor vehicle occupants and vulnerable road users with the support of the automotive industry. This position will support all aspects of ICAM?s research, from data analysis to crash investigation to injury coding. This position will be ideal for those who have interest in automotive crash investigation, medical research, data analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Data entry and management: the candidate will populate an existing database regarding crash reconstruction and injury causation/trauma. The candidate should be familiar with data acquisition, data entry, and best practices.
  • Crash Reconstruction: the candidate will assist in the investigation, reconstruction, and coding of crashes based on previously collected data. In addition, this position will assist in the creation of vCRASH simulations based on crash factors.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position, such as Mechanical or Bio-mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with Internet research
  • Experience with Human Study research
  • Command of basic engineering principles
  • Understanding of the basics of anatomy and physiology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a multicultural and collaborative environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Experience with crash simulation software
  • Experience with relational databases, data extraction, and analysis

Background Screening
