The Brass Chamber Music Coordinator oversees the chamber music experiences for brass groups and brass players in mixed groups at the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance. The Brass Chamber Music Coordinator works with the Coordinators of Piano, Strings, Woodwind, Mixed, and Baroque Chamber Music to support the Chair of Chamber Music in the administration, teaching, curriculum, and performances for the chamber music department. The Brass Chamber Music Coordinator will attend regular meetings; collaborate on group/coaching assignments and projects; and discuss spending, scheduling, special projects, guest artists, and recruitment. The Brass Chamber Music Coordinator will work with brass faculty in WPID, other Coordinators in Chamber Music, and the Chair of Chamber Music on group and coaching assignments for brass chamber music ensembles (quintets, quartets, or other sizes) and brass players in mixed and piano groups. The Coordinator will also coach most of the mixed brass ensembles (i.e. non-single studio groups of trombones, trumpets, horns, or tuba/euphonium), host one chamber music concert per semester, and contribute to discussions about guest artists, collaborative opportunities, and pedagogical developments that increase the impact and value of brass chamber music coaching for SMTD students.
