Job Summary

 

The Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) for ENGR 580 will attend lectures, meet weekly with the instructor, review and suggest updates to course materials,prepare weekly instructional materials, and assist with grading. This is a part-time appointment (35% effort).

Responsibilities*

 

The successful applicant works with the instructor in the preparation of course-related materials, and supports the overall facilitation of the course. The successful applicant may be required to assist with in-class instruction and grading.

Required Qualifications*

 

To be considered for this position, you must be a University of Michigan graduate student in good standing, taking at least 6 credit hours in the term you are applying for. Both incoming and current graduate students are eligible.

Course Description

 

ENGR 580: Teaching Engineering is a 3-credit course aimed at doctoral students from all engineering disciplines interested in teaching. Topics include educational philosophies, educational objectives, learning styles, collaborative and active learning, creativity, testing and grading, ABET requirements, and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
