Job Summary

 

The University of Michigan, Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to the study of hemorrhagic stroke and neurosurgical diseases.  This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in clinical research while contributing to meaningful advances in Neurosurgery.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Assist with the design and implementation of research protocols under the supervisor of the principal investigator.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all research activities, including data entry and database management.

  • Assist with data analysis using statistical software and contribute to the preparation of reports, abstracts and manuscripts.

  • Coordinate and schedule study-related activities and follow-ups with participants and clinical staff.

  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., biology neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, public health).

  • Prior research experience, particularly in a clinical setting, is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and familiarity with data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, R) is desirable.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.

  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality requirements.

  • Basic understanding of statistical methods and research design.

Background Screening
