Job Summary

 

The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) is seeking a highly-driven scientist to work as a Research Investigator. The ideal candidate will be supervised by the Principal Investigator in a laboratory that studies the regulation of epithelial differentiation and its interaction with the immune system which are key to the understanding of tissue homeostasis and inflammatory diseases.

Responsibilities*

 

The ideal candidate will lead a program focused on the relationship between keratins, epithelial differentiation and immunity in stress response and disease.. In this leadership position, the candidate will: 1) conduct their own individual research projects; 2) mentor graduate students and research technicians; 3) help in generating data for manuscripts and grant applications; and 4) write and submit their own grant applications as a step to acquire an independent position. 

Required Qualifications*

 

Candidates with a strong background in biochemistry, cell biology, and advanced microscopy with a strong record of publications in this field of research will be given preference. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and a minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral training. Additional requirements include expert written and verbal communication skills in the English language, as well as strong interpersonal skills that are conducive to building a healthy and collaborative lab environment.

Background Screening
