You would be supervised by the Strategic Advisor to the Dean and work closely with the UMSI Centennial Working Group and a group of UMSI doctoral students. This is a unique opportunity that includes hands-on work with archival materials, with the goal of bringing them to life for the U-M community and beyond.

Responsibilities*

  • Performing archival work with the School of Information's materials held at the Bentley Library, including (but not limited to) scanning, taking notes and pictures, and cataloging items
  • Editing and assisting with the creation of vignettes, articles, or other educational and fun items, especially based on findings from the UMSI archives in the Bentley Library
  • Collaborating on the creation of celebratory materials, including a potential digital exhibit, for the UMSI Centennial

Required Qualifications*

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience in a role that required detailed work and problem-solving
  • Frequent and clear communication with collaborators
  • Allocation of 15 - 20 hours a week, possibly more, for archival work at the Bentley Library
  • Ability to work regularly with collaborators during UMSI business hours

Desired Qualifications*

  • Specific skills and experience with libraries, archives, and knowledge environments
  • Graphic design skills (any software)
  • Storytelling skills and experience
