The Office of K-12 Partnerships is collaborating with Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools to bring the Math Corps summer program to the UM-Flint campus this summer. The Wayne State University Math Corps, was established in 1992 as a combined mathematics enrichment and mentoring program for Detroit public school students. For over thirty years, the Math Corps has been working to provide Detroit's children with the kinds of educational and lifetime opportunities that all kids deserve.
UM-Flint's Math Corps program will be held July 13 - August 6, Monday - Thursday, with additional training sessions, orientation, and closing ceremonies before and after the program. UM-Flint is hiring (2) student College Assistants (CAs) to help staff the program.
College Assistants (CAs) are current college students who are responsible for helping to ensure that each and every student has a safe, rewarding, enjoyable, and academically successful four-week experience. Specifically, the role of the CA is to help the Program Coordinator in organizing the site, supporting the senior staff in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the camp, and communicating daily events and issues with the Program Coordinator. The CAs wear many hats in the program and can easily find themselves working as tutors, hallway supervisors, classroom assistants, room supervisors, lunch assistants, runners, setting up and cleaning up for various events, and many other tasks.
