7W is an acute care area that cares for adult hematology/oncology patients; specifically, bone marrow and blood stem cell transplant (BMT), leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, aplastic anemia, & immune and genetic diseases. 8E is an acute care area that cares for adult medicine hematology patients, including blood cancers- leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, blood diseases- aplastic anemia, immune and genetic diseases.
The 7W/8E team provides world class care for the patient and the patient's family using a team approach. The BMT program, one of the largest in the country, is internationally known for research to make transplant safer and more effective.
The 7W/8E unit houses one nursing team. Nurses hired into this position will work between the 7W and 8E areas.
All nurses on the 7W/8E unit receive required, hospital based training, competency check off for BMT administration, cell therapy administration, chemotherapy administration and EKG interpretation training. We have telemetry capability to provide the highest possible level of care for our patient population.
