Duties include recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and reading relevant scientific literature, as well as presenting results to scientific audiences. Because the role involves direct interaction with older adults and individuals experiencing cognitive decline, the ideal candidate will be highly empathetic, patient, and thoughtful in their interactions with participants. The candidate will be expected to collect data both in the A2P Lab on the Medical Campus and at the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center on North Campus. Further duties include maintenance of lab equipment and other general tasks that come with being part of an active research lab. This position provides excellent foundational experience and mentorship for individuals considering a career in research.
The A2P Lab is part of the Kresge Hearing Research Institute (KHRI) at the University of Michigan (U-M), Ann Arbor. The research assistant will participate in a highly collaborative environment within and outside of the KHRI at U-M, with the potential for strong ties with the neuroscience and clinical audiology departments at U-M as well as the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center. KHRI and the broader neuroscience community at U-M provide a world-class research environment. The A2P Lab believes that a supportive and diverse lab environment is key to promoting individual and team success.
