The Pediatric Psychology Program at the University of Michigan/Michigan Medicine invites applications for 1-3 per diem study research assistant positions to support the research project entitled ?Evaluating solution-focused brief therapy as a strength-based intervention for AYA cancer survivors? psychological distress.? The research assistant will serve as a critical member of the research team and report directly to the project coordinator and Primary Investigator. 

             The research assistant will report directly to the Primary Investigator (Dr. Sunnye Mayes).

1. Complete all required ethics training at the University of Michigan, i.e., PEERRS.

2. Complete the study-specific training before initiating patient/participant clinical contact or recruitment. 

3. Be available on site at Mott Children?s Hospital and/or Rogel Cancer Center to facilitate study paperwork, participant eligibility determination, participant informed consent, and additional participant communication and data collection as needed. 

4. Data entry, database management, and chart review activities as needed.

5. Ongoing communication with relevant team members as needed. 

The research assistant will facilitate evaluation of participant eligibility, recruitment, and informed consent. The research assistant will also help with administration of study-related questionnaires, data entry, and database management. This position may entail other related tasks as needed. The candidate should be available to commit at least 10 hours a week for study-specific activities. 

• Specific interest and exposure to mental health/healthcare training (e.g., completion of advanced undergraduate coursework in psychology, social work, or related fields).

• Successful completion the PEERRS training and maintenance of ongoing education requirements.

• Interest, comfort, and ability to work in pediatric and adult oncology clinics

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. 

• Fluency in English

• Previous research experience

• Previous experience and a strong interest in research, especially in the field of adolescent and young adult oncology

• Experience working in hospital or clinic settings

• Knowledge and experience with the adolescent and young adult healthcare populations

• Experience with multidisciplinary teams
