The research laboratory of Dr. Anthony Rosenzweig in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, at the University of Michigan Medical School is seeking an exceptional postdoctoral fellow with advanced rodent surgical expertise to join a highly collaborative and dynamic research team.
The Rosenzweig Laboratory is located in the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) within a newly renovated laboratory building in the heart of Michigan Medicine. The laboratory benefits from immediate access to extensive core facilities, institutional research services, and a broad network of collaborators across basic science and clinical departments.
The laboratory studies cardiac physiology and disease, with a particular emphasis on understanding how exercise protects the heart from heart failure. A growing area of interest is the identification of shared mechanisms between the heart and the brain, and how these organs communicate with one another in both health and disease.
This position will focus on rodent models of stroke, including permanent and transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), as well as additional models as warranted by ongoing and emerging projects. The successful candidate will play a central role in the execution, optimization, and interpretation of these models.
An important goal of postdoctoral training in the Rosenzweig Laboratory is career development. Dr. Rosenzweig has mentored more than 60 postdoctoral fellows, the majority of whom have gone on to successful careers as independent investigators. Notably, fourteen former trainees currently hold leadership positions, including roles as department chairs, division chiefs, or research center directors.
In addition to advancing specific research projects, Dr. Rosenzweig is committed to working closely with the selected fellow to support their long?term career goals, including grant development, manuscript preparation, networking, and independent research planning.
