Responsibilities*

 

? Perform test procedures including evoked potentials, intraoperative, neonatal, extended EEG and video monitoring and sleep studies.

 ? Assist clinical supervisor and medical staff in training and supervising of technical staff.

 ? Develop, implement, evaluate and modify difficult recording procedures for patients. 

? Participate in the conducting of research in the neuroscience area. 

? Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas. 

? Explain test procedures to patients and instruct patient in proper positioning, both before and during the recording. 

? Obtain all types of EEG recordings, including portables and brain death recordings using needles, or related procedures within specialty areas.

 ? Calibrate and adjust equipment to be sure it is in proper working condition. 

? Attend weekly in-service training lectures and workshops. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED General supervision is received from a Clinical Manager or staff physician. 

 

SUPERVISION EXCERCISED Functional supervision is exercised over assigned Allied Health staff and students.

Required Qualifications*

 

 

Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered  (Certified)

  • High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Reasonable experience as an EEG Technician.
  • Registration by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist.
  • This classification required Primary Source Verification.

Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered 

  • High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist is necessary.

 

Desired Qualifications*

 

Electroencephalograph Technologist Registered  (Certified)
?    Satisfactory completion of college courses in the physiological and biological sciences is desirable. 
Electroencephalograph Technologist Non-Registered 
?    Satisfactory completion of college courses in the physiological and biological sciences is desirable.  
?    Satisfactory completion of an accredited program in END Technology is highly desirable.  
?    Eligibility to sit for ABRET, EEG board registration is highly desirable.

Modes of Work

 

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

 

The available schedule is 10 hour shifts with rotation every other weekend. 

  • Weekend shifts are afternoons 10a-8:30p
  • Weekday shifts are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 7a-5:30p

Please note:
- Mandatory holiday rotation.
- Participation in 24-hour on call schedule and overtime as assigned. Mandatory overtime may be possible.
- Training and orientation will occur primarily Monday through Friday during the day shift 7a-5:30p before being deployed to weekend rotation schedule.

Underfill Statement

 

This position may be underfilled with a graduate non-certified candidate. ABRET certification is required within 2 years of date of hire.

Union Affiliation

 

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

 

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
