Dr. Maria Woodward's lab is looking for a M4 medical student for a year-long paid research position to serve on clinical and health services research projects in ophthalmology. This is an in-person position at the Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Woodward's lab works to improve the quality of care for patients with eye infections, specifically corneal ulcers, through deep learning image analysis algorithms applied in clinics and health-system interventions. The goals will be for the student to get exposure to clinical research in
ophthalmology with opportunities to participate in the recruitment of patients, perform clinical research studies, work in a research team, publish manuscripts, and to present research at meetings. Past trainees have gone on to successfully match at competitive ophthalmology programs.
