Job Summary

 

With minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine.   The primary responsibility is the corrective and preventative maintenance of hemodialysis equipment at the main campus.  Equipment responsibility includes, but is not limited to, hemodialysis machines, CRRT machines, portable reverse osmosis machines, water treatment systems, and other equipment as assigned. 

Responsibilities*

 

Work performed is documented in the AIMS work order database system. Additional duties include identifying and preparing parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned devices. Cross-training other Biomedical Engineering Technicians to expand backup support is also required. Work hours are Sunday through Wednesday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The technician must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.

Required Qualifications*

 

BioMedical Engineering Technician 3

  • An Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, or equivalent Military training, is
    required.
  • Eight or more years of experience repairing and supporting a wide variety of medical devices and
    systems.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the U-M Skilled Trades Union, Inc., which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
