Requisition Management: Obtain procedure requisitions, extract all pertinent information, and present it to the Physician Assistant (PA) or physician for review.
Patient Information Review: Check MiChart for patient lab data, medical history, medications (including blood thinners), and allergies. Relay abnormal results to the PA or physician.
Appointment Scheduling: Schedule radiology procedure appointments in MiChart and Outlook, including entering information for specimens to be sent.
Imaging Check: Monitor MiChart for pertinent imaging on patients (e.g., IR, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds) and print relevant reports.
Anesthesia Coordination: Schedule cases requiring general anesthesia when necessary.
Inpatient Support: For inpatients, coordinate transportation, manage blood thinners, and obtain consent with the floor nurse or SWAT team.
Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for procedures, including assisting them into the room and completing pre-procedure patient information forms (consent, billing, and discharge instructions).
Lab Review: Recheck updated lab results before bringing the patient into the procedure room.
Room Set-Up: Set up the room and procedure trays as directed.
Specimen Handling: Assist with specimen preparation for Pathology and maintain inventory on the procedure cart daily.
Procedure Assistance: Assist medical personnel during procedures and log all necessary information on control sheets.
Ultrasound Support: Load images for volume navigation into ultrasound machines for procedural scanning.
Post-Procedure Clean-Up: Ensure proper post-procedure clean-up. Complete exam and bill for all billable supplies & procedures.
Biohazard Handling: Manage biohazard specimens following compliance procedures and transport specimens to the appropriate department for testing.
Billing: Complete the examination and billing for all billable supplies and procedures.
Supply Management: Maintain stock in all procedure rooms and order supplies as needed.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance checks of the resuscitation board and oxygen supplies.
Certification Compliance: Maintain University of Michigan (U of M) mandatory requirements and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Patient Triage: Triage patient calls as needed
