Job Summary

 

The Armenian Research Center (ARC) at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a part-time Assistant to help with sorting and organizing the Center's library and collections.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Assist with sorting, shelving, and retrieving materials

  • Move and organize books and boxes across rooms and shelving areas

  • Identify and manage duplicate items

  • Prepare materials for long-term storage

  • Maintain accurate order and classification of materials during handling

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods and lifting boxes of up to approximately 40 pounds
     

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Proficiency in Armenian (written and verbal), with the ability to recognize orthographic differences between Eastern and Western Armenian

  • Proficiency in Turkish and/or Russian

  • Familiarity with the Library of Congress Romanization tables
