Job Summary

The Office of Campus Sustainability (OCS) connects people, expertise, and campus systems to advance institution-wide sustainability solutions across the University of Michigan.

Reporting to Shana S. Weber, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for Campus Sustainability, the Assistant Vice President for Carbon Strategy and Portfolio Performance is a senior leader within U-M's Business & Finance organization and OCS. This role leads an OCS engineering team and data analysts and provides strategic and technical leadership across multiple concurrent initiatives in partnership with executive and operational stakeholders.

The AVP helps translate U-M's carbon neutrality priorities into funded projects and measurable results by connecting infrastructure planning, capital strategy, financial analysis, governance processes, and energy resilience goals. Working closely with Facilities & Operations, Finance, the Office of Planning and Strategic Initiatives, and other partners, this leader builds investment cases for major initiatives and establishes the performance framework used to manage delivery and verify outcomes.
Success in this role requires strong enterprise change leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate with credibility across technical, operational, and governance audiences.
