Job Summary

 

This position is for a UM-Dearborn student who is enrolled at least part-time and who is available to work up to 15 hours per week for the duration of the employment period.

Responsibilities*

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop regular programming to raise awareness and educate the UM-Dearborn community about diverse populations and identities
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of workshops focused on supporting UM-Dearborn?s diverse student population for students, faculty, and staff
  • Support the implementation of signature events such as Drag Show, Lavender Celebration, Black Celebratory, Global Fest, Trans Day of Remembrance, MLK Week, Take Back the Night and more.
  • Participate in staff meetings, department meetings, and supervisor one-on-one meetings
  • Manage stock of care supplies (e.g., menstrual supplies, contraceptive supplies, etc.) and resources for campus communities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to students, staff, and faculty utilizing the Office of Student Life services and resources and maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism
  • Serve as a first point of contact for students looking for referral to campus and community resources
  • Maintain administrative processes and tools (e.g., VictorsLink, student organization mail distribution, answering departmental emails)
  • Market Office of Student Life events and initiatives (e.g., print materials, tabling, classroom visits, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when working with the students, staff, and faculty
  • Support Office of Student Life programming initiatives
  • Other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Passion for community involvement and social justice
  • Enrolled at least part-time as a UM-Dearborn student
  • Ability to speak publicly and represent the Office of Student Life in a positive light
  • High level of interpersonal skills: can listen effectively and interact with people appropriately and professionally
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Available to work some nights and weekends
  • Must be able to attend August staff training (dates and times to be announced)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who will be enrolled through the WI27 semester
  • Federal Work Study Eligible
