Job Summary

 

The Department of Anesthesiology seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct basic and translational research on the neurobiology of consciousness. The fellow will lead projects investigating the neural correlates and mechanisms of diverse states of consciousness, including sleep, anesthesia, coma, and non-ordinary states induced by psychoactive compounds.

Responsibilities include experimentation and data collection in human participants using functional MRI (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and neuromodulation with low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU); computational analysis of fMRI and EEG data; development of new research methodologies; presentation of findings at national and international meetings; and preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. The position emphasizes advanced neuromodulation and analytical approaches to human neuroimaging and electrophysiology. The fellow will also have substantial opportunities for career development, including preparation and submission of individual fellowship and training grant applications.

Responsibilities*

 

Project Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct human-participant experiments, including behavioral paradigms, neuromodulation procedures, and physiological data acquisition

  • Analyze large-scale and existing fMRI and EEG datasets

  • Prepare technical reports and manuscripts summarizing research findings

  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team science environment

  • Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students and research staff in research methods and analysis

  • Perform literature reviews and contribute to manuscript and grant preparation

  • Present research results at scientific conferences and seminars

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, or a related field

  • Experience in human fMRI and/or EEG experimental acquisition and data analysis

  • Demonstrated research productivity, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or fellowship or grant applications

Background Screening
