The Department of Anesthesiology seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct basic and translational research on the neurobiology of consciousness. The fellow will lead projects investigating the neural correlates and mechanisms of diverse states of consciousness, including sleep, anesthesia, coma, and non-ordinary states induced by psychoactive compounds.
Responsibilities include experimentation and data collection in human participants using functional MRI (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and neuromodulation with low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU); computational analysis of fMRI and EEG data; development of new research methodologies; presentation of findings at national and international meetings; and preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. The position emphasizes advanced neuromodulation and analytical approaches to human neuroimaging and electrophysiology. The fellow will also have substantial opportunities for career development, including preparation and submission of individual fellowship and training grant applications.
