In this position, you will work on an NIH-funded research project examining how social ties predict hearing aid use in daily life. Under supervision, you will recruit, screen, conduct baseline interviews, hearing tests, and cognitive assessments. You will also administer protocol required to train study respondents on how to use the study equipment. Responsibilities will also include data collection, setting up and refurbishment of study equipment, as well as maintaining study records.

The ideal candidate is interested in working with study participants, working with technological devices and data, and participating in a multi-disciplinary research team.

Temporary position, approximately 20 hours a week, must be available weekdays, evenings and weekends as needed.

• Recruit & screen potential subjects via telephone and face to face interactions with local organizations and health care providers
• Schedule and consent research participants
• Conduct interviews and training sessions with study participants via phone/Zoom 
• Manage subject records
• Offload data and set-up study equipment (portable hearing tests, phone apps, and android phones)
• Conduct phone call with participants to troubleshoot any study issues
• Assist with other study related tasks including mailings, equipment cleaning, data monitoring

• Experience working with Human Subjects in a research context
• Experience with research protocols
• Experience working in a team-based environment
• Flexibility in schedule, including weekdays, evenings and weekends, averaging 20 hours per week
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Computer skills - word processing, Google workspace
• Ability to complete some work tasks remotely in Ann Arbor area
• Ability to complete some work tasks, as required, at University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research (426 Thompson St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104)
• Strong attention to detail

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health, sociology, cognitive science, linguistics, audiology, or a related field
• Experience working with technological devices
• Basic statistics skills, specifically SPSS, STATA or R
