Applications are invited for a Lab Tech Senior position in the lab of Dr. Anukul Shenoy in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. The Shenoy Lab of Barrier Immunobiology (SLOBI) is interested in understanding how inter- and intra- cellular crosstalk of epithelial cells with noxious stimuli and other immune cells remodels barrier immunity during health and disease. The candidate, if desired, will be mentored to develop an independent line of investigation during their period of training to be competitive for graduate school and medical school programs. The candidate will be offered opportunities for growth in leadership and mentorship skills as desired.

Please note: This position is term-limited for 1 year with the possibility of renewal based on need and available funding. 

The candidate's role will be to manage and organize the lab, maintain equipment, routine animal husbandry, genotyping, and maintenance of a mouse colonies, ordering and maintaining lab supplies, and assisting with research on one or more projects. The candidate will be offered opportunities for growth in leadership and mentorship skills as desired. The candidate will be trained by and work with lab members to learn the techniques.

• Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of experience required. 
• The applicant should be responsible, responsive, detail-oriented, well-organized, possessing good scientific oral and written communication skills, and should be willing and interested to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse research team. 
• The ideal candidate will be a fast learner possessing good organizational skills and sharp attention to details that is motivated to learn about microbiology and immunology. 
• They will contribute towards overall progress of the lab's research program.
• Previous experience of handling, managing, and genotyping mice.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted, including relevant undergraduate and graduate student experience.

Techniques used to study lung epithelial biology and immunology (like flowcytometry, microscopy, lavages, organoids, cell and tissue culture etc.) is preferred but not required.

This position is onsite. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
