Job Summary

 

The Department of Psychiatry seeks a qualified candidate to assist on research utilizing social media to address young adult alcohol consumption. The ideal candidate will facilitate recruitment, screening, enrollment, and interventions for young adults. This schedule requires evening/weekend coverage to meet participant needs.  The candidate will have interaction with participants and as part of a research team to coordinate research activities. The candidate will also contribute to protocol development and data management/quality assurance activities.

This is a 2 year term limited appointment for 30 hours/week which can begin on or around June 1 2026.

Position Specific Responsibilities will Include : 

  • Recruits, consents, enrolls, and intervenes with participants via social media
  • Completes required documentation for research activities, including risk management efforts and social media tasks
  • Aids in data management and quality assurance activities, including programming and testing data collection tools
  • Other administrative research tasks as needed to contribute to study goals and/or scientific products

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Professional certification as required by MM Office of Research 
  • 2 or more years of direct related experience. 
  • Assists with training activities of staff and others.
  • Understands scientific design and/or disease processes in area of research study. 

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Experience with social media use in research, particularly Snapchat
  • Experience with motivational interviewing and fidelity monitoring
  • Experience working with young adults around health goals and selecting appropriate measurements
  • Comfort discussing substance use and sensitive topics with young adults
  • Experience working as part of a research team to meet time sensitive research goals
  • Experience leading scientific products for dissemination, demonstrating the ability to translate day-to-day research tasks into scientific products
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research approaches
  • Experience leading IRB submissions and amendments
  • Experience with community-engaged methods/advisory board participation in research or iterative end-user testing

Work Schedule

 

Typical business hours (e.g., 8-5) during periods when active participant engagement is not occurring. When working with participants, evenings/weekends will be required and will vary as scheduled with the team to meet participant needs.

Work Locations

 

This position may be hybrid or remote. For hybrid , the position is located at one of Michigan Medicine off campus locations in Ann Arbor, Mi.

Additional Information

 

This will be a 2 yr, term-limited appointment with the possibility of extension. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits.  This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

Background Screening

 

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
