The Dept. of Operations, Ancillary Services, and Safety Preparedness at UM Health is seeking a strategic, highly motivated, results-oriented leader to serve as Director. 

The Director provides both strategic leadership and operational oversight to essential Logistics and Support Services departments, including Entrance Services, Environmental Services, Patient Equipment, Patient Transport, Mail Services, Retail Contracts, and Paging & Information Services. 

The successful candidate will shape and implement policies and procedures that ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery in support of patient care and organizational objectives. The Director drives operational excellence, fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and oversees financial, staffing, and compliance functions across all areas of oversight.

This role reports to the Associate Chief Operating Officer for Operations, Ancillary Services, and Safety.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience within a healthcare or large complex organization including at least 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
• Experience with performance management and staff development.
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic plans and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical ability for data-driven decision making and performance monitoring. 
• Strong financial and business acumen with experience developing and managing multi-million dollar budgets.
• Experience overseeing contractual agreements and managing relationships with third party vendors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of leadership.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and oversee multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously.

• Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
• Experience with collective bargaining agreements.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of UM policies and procedures.
• Experience using UM systems (FinProd, FinanceBI, HRMS, Cornerstone, etc)
