The selected applicant will be involved in well-defined research projects and is expected to make original scientific contributions, as well as interpret and analyze results. The position will heavily focus on mouse molecular genetic techniques.
Experimental responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- PCR, RT-PCR, qtPCR, and DNA sequencing
- Gel electrophoresis
- Molecular cloning
- DNA and RNA isolation
- Fluorescence microscopy to visualize DNA-FISH and immunohistochemistry
- Breeding, genotyping, and dissecting mice
- Data analysis using a variety of software programs, and preparation of data for presentation
- Training of new lab members and functional supervision for undergraduate students
Non-experimental responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Routine laboratory maintenance of equipment
- Ordering of supplies and reagents
- Compliance with University of Michigan safety and animal care regulations
